Week in Review! {Jan 25-31}

Monday

Today we checked out the Goose + the playground

after we went swinging, we went on a hunt for the goose
where is she?
as Cutie Face says, "right dere"

oh! i see her!

YAY! the goose!

okay, back to the playground...with a skeptical Cutie Face

hi mom!

Please! help me get down!
BOOM! shortly after we took this picture, Cutie Face made a tragic fall...and you'll see the results of the fall in the rest of the pictures taken this week. Poor kiddo.

Tuesday

Winter Shminter...it was cold* today!
*by cold...i mean cold for Atlanta (low 30s)

The big difference between an Atlantic Winter & a Midwestern Winter
...is the SUN!

Cutie Face very much enjoyed running around outside

and going in and out of the gate...or at least opening and closing it

or even crawling out of the gate:

She's looking for YOU to come visit! So come on down!

Wednesday

After a lazy morning,

spent chilaxing in our chairs,

we decided to head to Target (where else?)
so that we could buy bread for the goose and ducks.

Cutie Face enjoyed feeding them but she enjoyed eating their bread even more

Thankfully, the goose did get some of the bread!

Thursday

Today was my grandpa's birthday. He was a wonderful wonderful incredible man and we miss him. The twin and the cousins created a wonderfully sweet memorial for him today.
One thing about Grandpa was that he thoroughly enjoyed sports. Tonight we took Cutie Face to her first basketball game: Georgia Tech v. Wake Forest.

She was super into the whole opening and found it quite enthralling

Buzz, the GT mascot, led the cheerleaders and players into the stadium

Cutie Face tried to sign "Bug" whenever she saw Buzz
(maybe she thinks Bug and Buzz are the same thing?).

She knows all about Buzz because Poppy wears a Buzz hat all the time.
From afar, she thought he was pretty funny & kept pointing him out to us.

Poppy enjoyed sharing the basketball game with Cutie Face...but when Buzz started coming up the stairs to meet the kiddos, she let out the MOST incredibly loud BLOOD CURDLING scream you've ever heard.

She recovered, though, and went on to watch, safely in the arms of Daddy

Despite their faces, it wasn't a nailbitter--GT won! yay!

Friday

just playing...

buh bye, week, hello weekend!

even Puppy was worn out from our exciting week!

Saturday

Today we spent a LOT of time shopping...
we went to our favorite Dekalb Farmer's Market, filled our cart

ate at their buffet restaurant (delicious!)

and then we went to buy all our food...FAIL! We didn't have a debit card (or enough cash) that was working. BOO. So no food for us that day (except for the buffet which we paid for with cash--phew)

Since our food shopping trip was such a failure, we decided to stop at a local Antique Market called Kudzu (nope--it's not just an invasive plant in Atlanta)

Cutie Face loved playing with the vintage Little People playhouse

and she also enjoyed the overlar
when we came home, Cutie Face asked to sleep in her Big Girl bed...
(seen here through the window in the stairwell)

she took an awesome nap & has been taking all her naps in it ever since!

Since she has pretty sensitive skin, especially in the winter, we have only been giving Cutie Face a bath every three days. The nights we do give her a bath are thrilling to her! ...right...?

Since we didn't get to purchase J's beer at the Farmer's Market, we decided to take a night family trek to our local package store. Cutie Face helped pick out J's beer...right dere... {don't worry, Grandma, we aren't ruining her sweet innocence!}

Sunday

Oh my what a beautiful day! After church and a quick lunch we took a very very loooong family walk. I was secretly hoping it would induce labor.

Sadly, NO, it did not--not even after we made a stop at Whole Foods and I bought (and then proceeded to wolf down) 1.2 lbs of eggplant from their hot bar.

Oh well. At least we had a great walk! We wandered past an interesting sculpture we've seen from the road but have never seen up close and personal...

Then we headed to our former favorite park in our old 'hood

Cutie Face was happy to be back and showed J her fave toy...the firetruck

She also liked sharing the firetruck with another kid...she LOVES kids!

she would have just been thrilled to watch all the kids run around:

J liked having her slide down the slides...

...mainly for the static electricity effect.

Aren't we great parents?

Phew! and with that, i think i'm finally caught up on the last month...of course there are still posts from October that i haven't written yet but that is a completely different story...one day!

{small confession}

despite not even being close to caught up on Cutie Face updates...

i have to admit...

I really miss blogging on Monkeys on the Bed!

monkeys on the bed!

Don't get me wrong--I LOVE documenting my days with Cutie Face and our family...

I just feel like my MOTB posts might have held more meaning...
or have been more substantial...
or been somewhat interesting...
or just a daily outlet to exercise my brain...

While I've enjoyed the break, I might be back on MOTB one day...

we'll just have to see what it's like to do that with TWO Cutie Faces

Week in Review! {Jan 18-24}

Monday

On Monday we welcomed our first official visitors to the house--the twin, Lil Miss and Sweet Pea came down to play with Cutie Face!

J decided it would be a fun trick to put Sweet Pea in the DOLL stroller and have Lil Miss push her. Okay, Lil Miss did NOT push her but she did man the stroller while I snapped a quick picture. Kind of funny...right twin? (don't be mad)

We then walked over to our local park--
less than a tenth of a mile away it is sooo nice to have that close!

We showed Lil' Miss our resident Goose

and did some tandem cousin swinging

then we walked home. It was slow going so i decided to help speed things up
as the twin said, I was carrying 3 children:

Lunch + Baby Signing Time = Yummy Fun
sharing that with her cousin = priceless

after a failed naptime, we let the kiddos run wild outside

they loved playing with our balls

Cutie Face really wanted Lil' Miss to drink water

Lil' Miss just wanted to play with the ladybug ball

If Cutie Face volunteered at a road race, she'd ROCK the water station:

the cutie cousins rounded out the day with playtime in the castle

We were SO thankful for their visit!

Tuesday

On Tuesday we had a suburban playdate...and an urban one, too!

We started out with a Kappa Kappa Gamma Mommy & Me date
...at the indoor mall playground

Cutie Face was shocked to see a girl fall off one of the playscapes:
We finished our Mommy & Me time with storytime at Pottery Barn Kids
this was how long her attention span was...ZERO

Oh well.

After the story, Cutie Face was thrilled to find that there was a train that choochoo'd through the mall

It was quite exciting.

Then we headed over to Mimi & Poppy's to have lunch with Lil Miss
Lil' Miss' pigtails are sooo stinkin' cute!

Once we got home, we ran around a bit outside
While playing, we met two of our neighbors! I love where we live!

In the mail was a special letter to Cutie Face from Grandma...
STICKERS! YAY!

We got a little messy during snack so we did a quick change before heading out for our second unofficial playdate--it wasn't actually a playdate as much as it was a GREAT way to meet tons of new kids and moms at the local playground!

(this picture, by the way, doesn't represent the playground but does illustrate how Cutie Face often likes to just plonk down in the grass and play...and how she can just be stubborn...as this plonking down was more or less an outright refusal to continue on the way home)

Wednesday

We started the week off with a 36.5 week OB appointment...
(pretending to be a baby)

always made better by a trip to the bagel place + Starbucks

When we got home we took a nap together...Cutie Face conked out:

then woke up and headed out to another playground a block away!

It's designed for older kids but Cutie Face enjoyed it!

Or at least i think she did...

She was quite enthralled by the acorns

Since the playground was a bit harder for her to play on then our other local park, we decided to head back to the smaller-kid-friendlier park.

There was a drummer there when we arrived...and he was a very interesting new aspect of the park that Cutie Face most definitely wanted to explore:

So we did get a little closer to check him out!

and then it was back to the park

Thursday

We experienced quite a bit of rain today so we were thrilled to get out of the house in between rain storms and visit the open space near the pond/fountain

please note her relatively clean clothes and shoes

and how quickly they became muddy

...needles to say she had a blast slipping and sliding on the grass

She took a quick reprieve to wipe her hands on her blanket (yuck!)
and then it was off to the stairs

She loved climbing up and down the steps!

After diner we headed to our Community Group where Cutie Face very much enjoyed playing in her friend N's bus tent.

and J enjoyed playing Scrabble with the masters. Good times

Friday

Aww Cutie Face we love your cute face...
even smeared with Sunflower Butter!

We went shopping...I wanted to go to the Old Navy 50% off Clearance Sale
Cutie Face just wanted to explore the yard and touch the water

Once we finally got to Old Navy, Cutie Face enjoyed playing Rockband

but really loved their puppy

I mean, she REALLY liked it

She could have spent all day with him!

The rest of the day was pretty lackluster but around 10:30 PM, Cutie Face woke up screaming hysterically. Nothing like a little bonding session with Daddy

Saturday

Raining! Cleaning! Enough Said!

Sunday

Super laid back Sunday made perfect with a visit from Mimi & Poppy

and some ginger cookies, too, of course!
