"How To" by Cutie Face

How to...Hula Hoop
by Cutie Face

Find a hula hoop in your favorite color

then use ALL your concentration

to twirl it around your belly

When you're done with all your effort, drop it on the floor

TA-DA you did it!

or maybe not...but at least you tried!

How to... {not} eat popcorn
by Cutie Face

Pick up a piece

shove it in your mouth

contemplate eating another

decide to put your plate on the floor instead

scatter the kernels to the wind

and then leave your mommy to take pictures of the plate
(and eat the leftovers!)

Yes, we love popcorn in this family

There was a little girl

There was a little girl

 by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,

Right in the middle of her forehead.

or in this case, on the sides of her head

            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,

But when she was bad
she was horrid.

(a truer poem was never written...besides the Psalms of course!)

I loved the little curl on the side of her head today...so much so that it warranted its own post! All pictures from today except for the last one...and i had to include it because it's so priceless (and I'd be a horrible mommy if I took pictures of her in time out!)

Thankful for Thursday

sorry to just jump into the middle of the week without catching up from...oh TWO MONTHS...of unposted happenings. But...we'll get there, someday, if only for posterity sake

Back in my Monkeys on the Bed days, I wrote a weekly Thankful Thursday post. Every day I find something where I think, "now this would definitely make the Thankful Thursday list".

Today everything would have made the list.

early this morning we headed to the zoo with cousins x two

the girlies gear up for the zoo!

Sweet Pea and Cutie Cakes rode in our carriers

BUT they were happy to be together, too, once we finally let them out!
The first stop was the Panda exhibit!
In honor of the panda, Cutie Cakes wore her Panda dress from Aunty Hunny
The twin schlepped the girls all over the zoo
We had the extreme pleasure of being at the zoo with my pseudo-sister-in-law (she's my twin's sister-in-law but we know her from college so we love her like an aunty :)
Mr. S was loving his apple
and Little Miss was forced to love the broccoli

in true kid conduct, the kiddos were more fascinated by the termites on the tree
than by other animal attractions!
The zoo playground was also a huge highlight!
After the zoo, we had some good naps by both girls and then we headed to Starbucks. On the way over there we ran into a group of people that were headed to the Caterpillar Ball, a precursor to the Inman Park Festival.

After our Starbucks run, we decided, "ehh why not head over there?" Well we're glad we did--the time flew by we were having so much fun and we ended up staying until it ended!

popcorn ... yumm
can't get enough!
many patient kiddos waited in a long line to get their face painted
We tried to figure out if Cutie Face could be that patient

But decided she was just a bit too young for it

Maybe next year her face will be this cute!

So fun!

To end the day, Cutie Face and J took a ride home on the tractor (he literally let them out right in front of our street!). SO FUN for sure!

Oh and PS
Cutie Cakes WAS in attendance at the fesitval, too:

OH MY something clearly went wrong in the HTML captions thing...sorry for this disjointed post. Hopefully i can clear it up soon!

Dots & Stripes

Cutie Cakes checked in at 11lbs and 22 inches (though i swear she feels lighter & longer) at her 2-month checkup. That means she is finally getting closer to fitting into those 0-3 month clothing that never fits.

In our family, the 0-3 month clothing doesn't fit until the kiddo is 3-months. And then, {BAM!} the next thing you know, it doesn't fit again (this time for the opposite reason) and we're smack in the middle of the 3-6 month clothing.

Happily, Cutie Cakes can finally sport her Little Miss Mismatched Dots & Stripes outfit before it gets too warm to be sensibly found in it. Thanks, Twin, for the sweet and oh-so-cute gift! We love it!

Birth Announcement!

So really

I don't know where to start

it's been a month & a half

to feel overwhelmed by the blog would be putting it mildly

But i did want to share our birth announcement for Cutie Cakes!

It's hard to believe she's been with us for more than two months

It's flown by and felt like forever at the same time

Life as a family of 4 is grand!

Outside outside

Any fan of Baby Signing Time knows the DVDs songs by heart. We frequently sing the songs while we're running in the jogger...especially the song "Outside, outside" (because, you know, we're...outside).

The song says ,"Outside, outside, i love going outside". Truer words have never been spoken sung.

When we returned from Michigan (more on that later) we were welcomed back by a GORGEOUS Spring in Atlanta. Leaves and flowers and sunny days were in their full glory and we've been capitalizing on these wonderful days by spending the majority of our wake-time outside.

Today (Monday) was no exception.

i may be super independent but i'm also super cute

We started by a run to the doctor's office for Cutie Cakes' 2-month appt. Turns out that the appointment is actually Tuesday.

Bummer.

typing an "email" to Mimi on the "pute-erh"

But we still made the most of it and hung out at two parks we pass en route (actually, we pass 3 but 2 was enough!)

Cutie Face is loving being independent (her mama, on the other hand, is finding it...trying. Yes, Mom, I know--a little bit of my own medicine is coming right back at me).

no, mom, i DO NOT need your help

oh yes, i look super stylish in my mom's old duds
(YES! the twin and i used to wear this shirt! Vintage IZOD at its best)

The only thing she is dependent on, though is her prized yellow blanket (Thanks Grandma/GiGi!). It even accompanied her in the swing today.

After lunch and naps, we ran around our yard and then played in the kiddie pool we bought last year. Let me tell you, April hose water is FRIGID. Soooo cold. But Cutie Face and I enjoyed splashing

We capped it all off with a cleansing of the playground we picked up on the side of the road. No pictures from that since our hands were dirty and wet (and the camera should not be near either of those!) I'm sure we'll have plenty of opportunities for pictures soon, though, since we clearly love "going Outside".

Oh yeah..and Cutie Cakes does exist, i promise...
here's our proof for today:
